Ascot State School provides a safe and caring environment for high quality learning.  The school’s motto “Strive to Achieve” reflects the strong commitment of teachers and the school community in encouraging every child to reach their full potential while promoting social responsibility that goes with being part of a community.

Ascot State School provides high quality education from Prep to Year 7.  The campus is located in Ascot approximately 7 kms from Brisbane GPO.  Ascot is proud of its rich history, traditions and strong school spirit which has been embraced by generations of local families and new members of the Ascot community.

Outstanding school facilities include a purpose built Middle Phase Learning Centre containing Year 6 and 7 classrooms, outdoor learning areas and state of the art Information Technology.  A modern air conditioned Library and Information Technology Centre provides access to a computer lab with 35 new computers, a multi-media classroom and an up to date collection of resources.  A new Prep facility features child centred indoor activity centres, and an early learning outdoor space.  All classrooms are equipped with computers and access to a number of multi-media devices for class use.

Other facilities include a 25m heated swimming pool, Assembly Hall, specialist play equipment and playgrounds, Art Room, Music Room, covered games areas and a second computer lab.    The school tennis courts are located off campus.

The school consistently achieves high standards in literacy and numeracy.  The curriculum framework is built around the 8 Key Learning Areas; English Mathematics, Studies of Society, Science, Technology, The Arts, Health and Physical Education and LOTE (Years 5-7).  Specialist support teachers for learning difficulties and English as a Second Language are available for students with a diverse range of abilities.  A Special Needs Committee meets fortnightly to oversee support services for individual students.

The Language Other than English (LOTE) program teaches Japanese to students from year 5-7 and promotes cross cultural awareness for the entire school through its exchange program and communication with its sister school Miyoshi District High School.

Ascot’s extensive Music Program includes three Concert Bands – Senior, Intermediate and Junior, String Ensembles and Choirs.  Events occur annually where we feature performances from the school bands, choir and individual students.

The Physical Education program has a strong swimming component and is supported by an active parent-run Swimming Club.  Interschool cross-country, athletics, netball, softball, cricket, hockey and Australian Rules Football are played.

There is a strong community support for Ascot State School.  Working beside the P&C Committee is a Swimming Club, Tuckshop Committee, Parents Auxiliary, Uniform Shop, Community Education coordinator, Friends of Music Group, Safety House, Outside School Hours Care Committee, Events Committee. Support-a- Reader (SAR) training is offered to parents and as a result a large group of parents act as SAR tutors.

The school and P&C employ a Parent Liaison Worker (PLW) whose tasks include coordinating activities with the Class Parent Representatives who support each classroom teacher.  Parents are represented on the School Advisory Council.
