Year 7

The Year 7 focus is developing the children's responsibility, leadership skills, self-motivation and encouraging the children to care for others both within the school and the wider community.

To achieve these goals the children will be encouraged to think of their role within the school and community. All Year 7 children are assigned a Year 1 buddy in order to foster positive peer relationships. This experience is very much enjoyed by the Year 7 children and their buddies.

Each class has selected two class captains, who along with our school captains and 3 teacher nominated class representatives, represent all children on the Student Council. The Student Council works in close consultation with the administration team to ensure that children's concerns and requests are valued and given due consideration. The Student Council is also involved in charity and fund-raising activities. The Year 7 children are involved in a Leadership Day early in the year to assist them to identify and develop the qualities of a good leader.

Year 7 children visit our nation’s capital, Canberra. The Canberra visit builds on the year's major SOSE theme of Federation and Government. The highlight of the excursion is a visit to Parliament House.

Year 7 children at Ascot have the opportunity to be involved in interhouse and interschool sport, the school bands and choir.
